Stacy Warner

My name is Stacy Warner and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. It wasn't until about 8 years ago that I decided to go back to school to get my Master's Degree along with my therapist license. I have a deep passion for those that have been affected by a loved one's addiction. There's a personal reason as to why I went back to school to become a therapist. You see, after 22 years of being married to my high school sweetheart, my world came crashing down when my husband's addiction to vodka took over his life. My husband's addiction was progressive and so was mine. His addiction began to affect the way I thought, acted, and the way I felt. It brought out some of the worst emotions I have ever had to deal with. My husband's alcoholism didn't just affect me, but it also affected our 3 boys all in different ways, friendships ended, and family relationships were severely strained. I know from experience that addiction truly is a family disease. I watched the nasty effects of alcoholism take a hold of my family and I did not want this disease to have long-lasting effects within our family or in generations to come. I, myself, began to seek help. I was just as sick as my husband. The difference was my addiction was him and wanting him to get sober. During the time of my husband's most active part of his disease, I went back to school so that I would be able to support myself if in fact we went our separate ways. However, through therapy and the help of my Lord and Savior, I learned to gain strength and focus on getting healthy emotionally. The greatest thing that I learned was that there was hope and that recovery was possible for our entire family. Therapy allowed me to overcome the feelings that I took on as a victim, while teaching me that I no longer had to be a victim. I regained my identity and got my life back. Today, I am beyond grateful for what my husband's alcoholism taught me. I made a promise to myself that I would not allow the pain that I went through to be for nothing. That is why I do what I do today! There is no greater joy than helping someone that has been in the same situation that I have been. I approach counseling with a person-centered approach, as well as a solution-focused counseling approach. If desired, I also offer faith-based counseling. I look forward to helping you!
